ABOUT OUR LEAGUE

GALS softball was founded in 1973 by a group of parents that wanted for form a softball league for their girls.  In 2010, GALS merged with the LSAA to form LSAA-GIRLS Softball.  In 2010 we also welcomed the Philadelphia Spirit to our organization.

Softball offers Fast Pitch softball for girls ages 5 - 18.    Our spring season begins in mid-April and runs until mid to late June.  The season is made up of team practices, league clinics, a regular season schedule and playoffs.

In 2011 we will be joining the Babe Ruth Little League and offer Travel softball that will coincide with our in-house league.  We will hold evaluations for players that are interested in playing travel softball.  These teams will play home games at Russell Elliot Memorial Park and will travel to local townships to play away games.

We will also be adding a Fall League. We will release additional information as our plans become clearer.

Our Divisions:

Age Cut Off:  December 31

Fundamentals:  This league is for girls ages 5 to 7.  All games are played at Russell Elliot on our Fundamental Field.  Players will be introduced to the fundamentals of the game of softball.  It is a coach pitched league.   Players are also taught the rules of softball.

Games are usually held Monday - Friday at 6:15 with an occasional game on Saturdays.

10 U Division:

This league plays on a regulation softball field.  The pitching plate is 35 feet from home.  Players continue to build on their fundamental skills and are exposed to more rules to the game of softball. 

This is a player pitched league. 

We will follow ASA rules with a few exceptions that will be specific to this league.

12 U Division:

This league plays on a regulation softball field.  The pitching plate is 40 feet from home.  Players continue to build on their fundamental skills and are exposed to more rules to the game of softball. 

Players will be taught to steal bases and other strategies of the game of softball,

We will follow ASA rules with a few exceptions that will be specific to this league.

18 U Division:

We jump to 18 U due to many girls begin to work.  Players range from ages 14 - 18.   These games are played Monday - Thursday at 8:15.

We play by full ASA rules with one exception, the maximum number of runs a team can score in an inning.
