QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

WE HAVE SMOKE DETECTORS AND BATTERIES FOR YOU.

First, any resident that needs smoke detectors, please call Tricia at 215-357-7300 x311 and we will certainly help you out.  In addition, if you need 9 volt batteries for your smoke detectors, let us know and we will provide them.

1.  Do I really need smoke alarms in my home?

Properly located and maintained smoke alarms are the simplest, cheapest, and most effective way to provide an early warning against a fire.

2.  How many smoke alarms should I have?

You should have at least one on every level of your home (including the basement and attic), and one detector in each bedroom.

3.  Should I buy a fire extinquisher?

Fire extinquishers are worth the investment.  Knowing how to use a fire extinquisher can prevent small fires from becoming larger, minimizing the spread and damage of a fire.  Always call 9-1-1 first before attempting to extinquish a fire.  There are many different types of fire extinquishers on the market to choose from, and if you need assistance in choosing the right type for you, contact the Fire Marshall's office during normal business hours.
